A life I thought was permanent changed. For the first time in a long time, I’m really asking myself what I want. I’m rebuilding my independence, my income, my strength, and saying yes to things I never imagined.
I’m not starting over. I’m starting from experience.
I built my life around a relationship, a family, a future I believed was permanent. When it ended, I lost more than that. I lost my security. I lost my independence. In some ways, I lost myself. I looked at my life and didn’t recognise where I stood. I had spent years becoming what other people needed. Somewhere along the way, I stopped asking what I wanted. That question became the beginning.
Who am I now, and what the hell do I do next?
I’m learning to choose myself too. To have my own identity, income and purpose while still loving deeply and building a life with the people I love. The shift wasn’t choosing myself instead of someone else. It means not losing myself along the way.
Life has changed on me more times than I expected, and I’ve had to reinvent myself more than once. I’ve made mistakes and taken wrong turns. But I’m still curious, still willing to try something new even when it scares me. Today I’m building again, and I’m okay not knowing exactly where it ends.
I’m most proud that after everything, I’m still excited about who I might become next.
